no widely known projects. began with FORTRAN,keypunch crds & seconds of computer time between midnite & 4 AM.

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS: Why were initial programs for Apple/MSFT/DEC & others provided on 1.44 MB FLOPPY DISCS, & they worked well enough at least 80-95% In my experience since 1984. The boot up time seemed faster with slow CPU & Fat Macs with 512KB(kiloBytes) of Memory. Now I have 8core CPU's multiple threads and similar programs Write/paint/spreadsheets seem 2 take even longer to allow me 2 perform simple tasks: make a list, uncomplicated B&W pic. why do programmers reuse useless code & add more useless codes to make a program work, rather than make it correctly to start from?
